The Door of Initimacy             5/16/2020

 1 Corinthians 8:1-3 (NIV)
1  .   .  . We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2  The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. 3  But the man who loves God is known by God.

As Adam and Eve learned, gaining knowledge does not of itself lead to life. Gaining knowledge at the expense of obedience and love is a killer. What is of paramount importance is being known of God, in other words, letting God know me.

          Romans 8:11-15 (ESV)
11  If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
12  So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13  For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14  For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”       .

1 Corinthians 12:6-11 (ESV)

7  To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
8  For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
9  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
10  to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11  All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

Ephesians 5:18-21 (NIV)
18  Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19  Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20  always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
21  Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

John 14:23 (ESV)
23  Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

  John 10:10 (ESV)
10  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

  Luke 12:1-3 (ESV)
1  In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of
